I have been experiencing this issue as well. Excel seems to randomly stop accepting input. Functional keys work (e.g., arrow keys to move from one cell to another, the delete key, any key that is an action as opposed to a text input works), but text entry doesn't seem to work (letters or numbers).
Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Sometimes when I am operating in a spreadsheet I begin to type in a cell and the program will only allow me to type one character in the cell. Then it will not respond to any additional key strokes. Following this problem, I can sometimes move from the selected cell by the arrow keys and return to the cell where I can begin typing again. Other times i can't type any characters in any selected cells. To remedy the situation I can then sometimes save the workbook, then it will work. Or other times I have to save close and restart the program. It seems to be occurring more frequently.

Help please. Do you have any event macros in your workbook? Is it only one workbook, or every one? If only one, does it help to copy the sheet to a fresh workbook (via Copy/Paste)?
